OPC, the subsurface engineering specialist, announced today a number of initiatives which will see the business take a renewed focus on further developing its capabilities in the Middle East while also continuing to support our clients elsewhere.
New office in Dubai
OPC is establishing a new office in Dubai to support the increasing demand from customers locally. This office will be managed by Riley Smith, OPC Consultant Services Manager, and from it OPC will provide consultant services, training and technical services.
Global Training focus
The new office in Dubai will become OPC’s base for global training services. Over the last two years, OPC has seen demand for its training services increase dramatically from companies based in the Middle East, North Africa, CIS and Eastern Europe. Having its training headquarters in Dubai will ensure that OPC’s training staff are closer to its client base and are therefore better able to provide responsive and tailored training courses.
AlMansoori agent for Abu Dhabi
OPC has signed a collaboration agreement with AlMansoori to market OPC services in Abu Dhabi. The agreement is a reflection of the synergies between OPC’s subsurface and reservoir engineering expertise and AlMansoori’s oilfield services strengths and their leading position in the Abu Dhabi market (a separate more detailed announcement will follow).
Edna Travers leaves OPC to focus on Iran
Edna Travers (Golboodaghians), OPC Business Development Manager for Middle East and North Africa will be leaving OPC full time employment on 14th February to focus on her independent Iran-related consultancy work. Edna will still continue to support OPC for a period of time to complete current projects and ensure a smooth hand-over of business contacts beyond this date.
Piers Johnson, Managing Director of OPC commented “We are very pleased to announce the new plans for the Middle East. The new office in Dubai is part of a focussed strategy to develop OPC business where customers need us. AlMansoori is an ideal partner for us in Abu Dhabi as we have great synergies with their oilfield services business. However, we are very sorry to say goodbye to Edna. She has been an important part of our business over the last two years and has been instrumental in introducing OPC to a number of key new strategic clients. I wish her well with her new venture and look forward to working with her in the future.”
