YP technical seminar entitled ‘The Unconventional Revolution: From an Emerging Resource to a Core Business’

OPC was proud to be a sponsor of this flagship event and provided us a great opportunity to meet technical leaders in unconventional assets. The event attracted a record 130 delegates with attendance from students, young professionals, SPE community, and the wider oil and gas industry.

Core topics covered were heavy oil, coal bed methane and shale gas with presentations depicting the entire value chain from investment to production, at a level that both technical and non-technical audience could appreciate. Speakers covered all the challenges faced both technically and commercially which raise the stakes of what is now a growth business outside of North America. Nigel McKim of Hess summed it up in his closing presentation that ‘the future of unconventionals is in the hands of our young professionals’. The revolution has begun!

OPC also gave away a Kindle™ to one lucky SPE member who attended on the day.
