Well test training at IFP school in Paris

Piers Johnson and Bill Roberts deliver Well Testing and Well Test Interpretation modules

Piers Johnson and Bill Roberts deliver well testing modules to Masters students at the Institute of French Petroleum (IFP)

OPC Managing Director Piers Johnson has just returned from lecturing to students at the Institute of French Petroleum (IFP) in Paris.  Piers and Bill Roberts, OPC USA, teach the Well Testing and Well Test Interpretation module every year to students on the Masters course in Reservoir Geoscience and Engineering (RGE).   The course attracts international students from all over the world.

Piers said:

One of the things I really like about the IFP is the range of nationalities that take part in the course.  This year I was teaching students from France, Columbia, Nigeria, Angola, Brazil, Pakistan, Egypt, Mexico, Azerbaijan, Chad and the USA.  I was very impressed with the level of engagement and the knowledge of the students.  Several have already lined up jobs with the oil majors and I could see why.

The OPC module covers the theory of well test interpretation and its application and practical well testing too. Piers and Bill use recent real-life examples of OPC well test projects in a variety of reservoirs to give a valuable practical insight into the topic.  Piers added:

The practical application within the course is both interesting and valuable to the students.  It was rewarding to hear that they have all chosen the optional advanced well testing module later in their course as a result of the training we provided.
