Project Completed

Well optimisation

OPC reviewed PTA data on a well offshore West Africa and advised on actions to optimize well production. Following the well workover production was increased five fold from 5000 to 25000 bopd.

Problem

The new Egina 21 well was only producing 5000 bopd compared to 25000 bopd that had been anticipated

Project Scope

OPC was asked to give a second opinion on the PTA of wells and advise way forward to optimize the well production

OPC Approach and Recommendation

OPC carried out extensive data synthesis to understand WR system. OPC also used PTA to match pressure responses and proposed 3 possible cases.

OPC’s best match indicated partial well completion. recommended a PLT and segmented stimulation as against initial bull heading.

Client action and results

TUPNI went into the well in August 2018 and worked over the well using OPC recommendation

Well production was restored to 25000 bopd – a five fold (400%) increase.

Disciplines utilised during project

Reservoir Simulation

We apply the latest technology and software together with highly competent in house engineering and geoscience staff, to build geostatistical models and up-scale them to dynamic models

Reservoir Engineering

OPC is one of the leading independent reservoir engineering consultants in the world providing services on a global basis to IOCs, NOCs and independent oil & gas businesses.

Reservoir engineering studies have included phase behaviour and equation of state modelling and production engineering.

Pressure Transient Analysis

OPC specialises in Pressure Transient Analysis (PTA), also known as Well test analysis, which involves the interpretation and analysis of Drill Stem Test (DST), Extended Well Test (EWT) and Production/Injection permanent downhole gauge data.
