OPC’s Chief Commercial Officer, Ryan Moore, recently represented the company at the EGYPES Conference 2025 in Cairo.
The conference, held from February 17-19, brought together global energy leaders, policymakers, and industry pioneers to explore opportunities for sustainable energy development and regional progress amid the ongoing energy transition.
Strategic business engagements
During the conference, Ryan engaged in several high-level discussions with key industry players. Focusing on potential collaboration opportunities across North Africa and the East Mediterranean region.
Ryan explained:
"With its growing infrastructure and increasing investment, North Africa and the Mediterranean are emerging as key hubs for energy production and export, playing a vital role in global energy security. From exploration through to production, OPC has over 30 years of experience in delivering multidisciplinary subsurface studies in the region. Our wealth of expertise regional knowledge, coupled with the flexible solutions we offer, provide the necessary capability and capacity to our clients to deliver their upstream projects effectively and efficiently."
Local Knowledge Transfer
A key consideration for some organisations was the establishment of a long term in-house local capability.
Ryan said: “When partnering with our client to deliver a scope of work we ensure knowledge gained on a project is transferred, we often integrate with our clients’ team providing mentorship and training as part of our study remit.
Expanding Industry Influence
Beyond direct business engagements, Ryan also focused on raising OPC’s industry profile:
"The conference provided an excellent platform to showcase the company’s capabilities to a wider audience. It was a great opportunity to educate regional industry players about the services OPC offer and the support we can provide to their projects in the region, particularly in Geosciences, Reservoir Engineering, Production Engineering, Well Engineering, and Surface Facilities. There was significant interest in OPC’s extensive global experience in Carbon Capture & Storage, with over 33 projects successfully delivered in the past 15 years. Additionally, our advisory services, focused on asset evaluation ahead of licensing rounds, A&D transactions, CPRs, and reserve auditing, also sparked considerable attention. "
Looking ahead
As OPC continues to strengthen our presence in North Africa and the East Mediterranean, the EGYPES Conference remains a pivotal event for forging new relationships, reinforcing existing partnerships, and showcasing our expertise in energy development.
