OPC conducted an analysis of the suitability of a depleted gas reservoir in the North Sea for CO2 injection and storage.
A leading oil and gas independent has an energy transition strategy to support the reduction of their carbon footprint and are involved in a carbon capture, transport and storage project in the North Sea. They required an investigation and report into the suitability of an abandoned gas field for CO2 injection and storage. Using our expertise and knowledge of the properties of the abandoned reservoir we modelled the CO2 injection performance using Prosper. The investigation took into account a range of scenarios involving possible impurities and also forecasted the long term storage capabilities of the asset.
The OPC analysis has helped the client to define injection potentials for the project and has enabled the client to submit a Licence Application to the appropriate authorities. The client said:
“We were very happy with the work quality and support received, especially on the short turnaround and on-time delivery. Given the good support we will certainly consider OPC for future scopes as they may arise.”
