This project focuses on large-scale carbon capture and storage opportunities in Western Australia, a crucial initiative for achieving net-zero emissions. It is intended to develop a financially viable model for carbon dioxide capture and storage at the Wheatstone gas field in the Pilbara, helping achieve net-zero emissions targets and generating revenue through carbon credit markets
Collaboration with Curtin University
This is the second research collaboration between Curtin University and OPC APAC. The Australian Government Department of Education awards the grant through the National Industry PhD Program (NIPHD). The study will be undertaken by Khairullah Sastradinata, staff petroleum engineer, at OPC APAC.
CCS in Australia
The project is expected to further elevate Australia to the forefront of Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) technology, which is critical in the current climate narrative where economic viability and technological provenance are in question.
