Static and Dynamic Modelling for Onshore Egyptian Oil Assets

Optimizing field development

OPC completed an original static and dynamic model for a client for onshore Egyptian oil assets with the objective to capture a range of uncertainties and to provide a notional development plan to assist future well placement and a wider field development plan.


Three thin sand units were modelled independently of each other as they showed different petrophysical properties and no reservoir communication. Analogue core data was analysed using wells from a nearby oil field. Techniques such as facies weighting, data analysis and petrophysical modelling were implemented to create a robust Sequential Indicator Simulation model.


Seismic interpretation was scrutinised to tie to well data and confirm structural elements using 3D seismic and variance cubes. No water contact had been intersected – therefore a saturation-height function was applied. RDT was used as the main source of the pressure data for the history match. Production rates (oil, water and gas) were filled in from the well test where required.


The full simulation model will help guide future infill campaigns.
