Static and dynamic rebuild
OPC competed a static and dynamic rebuild for a client for offshore oil assets in Ghana.
The reservoir is composed of Cenomanian turbidite sequences analogous to the Tabernas Basin in Spain. These Bouma sequences were recognised in the core data and formed the basis of a facies model overhaul. High-permeability streaks were identified which can act as “thief zones” – preferential conduits for flow.
No faults were included in the original model so these were interpreted using 3D seismic data. We were provided with plumbing data from a tracer campaign that helped to guide the level of connectivity between wells. A mixture of thief zones, structural barriers, stratigraphic baffles and flow across faults made for a challenging puzzle.
The porosity-permeability relationship captured in core data is reflected in the model. The result is a stratigraphically and structurally robust model based on core data and field concepts.
