OPC provided a series of hands-on training courses covering the maintenance of electrical, mechanical and control systems on a jack-up drilling rig in Kazakhstan.
Two full crews were trained how to use and maintain National Oilwell Varco (NOV) equipment including the Amphion Drilling Control System (DCS). The training was delivered by three experienced NOV equipment trainers provided by OPC who were able to deliver both classroom and hands-on training on the rig.
The training covered 58 days in total from June to August 2018. The client has provided the following feedback:
“The trainers were experts in the subject matter they were teaching. They were excellent communicators who ensured that our staff really understood the complexities of the systems and how best to maintain them in the future. The trainers exceeded expectations and worked on their own time to help troubleshoot equipment, assist with policies and procedures, and provide best practices for the rig to incorporate to reduce maintenance expense and increase safety.”
The client saved 25% by engaging OPC instead of purchasing the training direct from the manufacturer. Chris Bayly, OPC Training Manager said;
“We are delighted by the positive feedback from the client on the excellent quality and effectiveness of the training. Discussions are underway to provide refresher / update training in 2019.”
